DUQM REFINERY IS THE CO-HOST OF ODEC 2019

Oman Downstream Exhibition & Conference (ODEC) 2019 is an annual event that aims at showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions to key stakeholders within the region’s refining and petrochemical industry.

Duqm Refinery since 2017 has been partnering with ODEC using this unique platform to engage with the industry and inform them on project progress.

DR. SALIM AL HUTHAILI

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Dr. Salim Al-Huthaili is the CEO of Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries LLC. Dr. Salim holds extensive experience earned across various multinational organizations, including Royal Dutch Shell and OXEA. He holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.

IMAD AL HADLAQ

GROUP MANAGER - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, KPI

Imad Al-Hadlaq is the Group Manager for Business Development at Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI – Q8), based in Kuwait. He has over 22 years' experience in the downstream business. His areas of expertise include refining and petrochemicals integration along with downstream fuel retail. Imad holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona (USA).

JASIM AL AJMI

HEAD OF CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY

With over 10 years of Corporate experience in various business functions, Jasim Al Ajmi is the Head of Corporate Sustainability at Duqm Refinery. He is responsible for the delivery of the Company’s social investment programs, Communications, ICV, Stakeholders Engagements strategies and plans.

Previously, Jasim has worked at multi-national companies where he designed and managed the CSR initiatives portfolios targeting different social segments.

Jasim graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English Language from Sultan Qaboos University in 2008 and is currently pursuing an MSc in Management and Entrepreneurship at Cranfield University, United Kingdom.

ISHAQ AL SARHNI

GENERAL MANAGER - ENGINEERING

Ishaq Al Sarhni is the General Manager – Engineering of Duqm Refinery & Petrochemical Industries Company; responsible for the design of the new grass root oil refinery in Duqm. He has over 25 years' experience in building oil refineries, LNG, methanol and gas processing plants. His areas of expertise include Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, construction and commissioning. Ishaq holds an MBA from Hull University and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University. He is also a graduate of the Oman National CEO Programme, Cohort 2. Ishaq takes strong interest in raising the safety standards within the industry and particular interest in inspiring the young Omani talents.

PROJECT PROGRESS

THE DUQM REFINERY PROJECT IS WITNESSING A SIGNIFICANT GROWTH IN THE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES MADE BY THE THREE EPC CONTRACTORS.

The overall progress of the work has almost reached 13% and this includes engineering, procurement and construction works comprising, excavation works, concrete pouring for foundations of buildings and the construction of piperack.

A total of 4,769 workers have been mobilized by all EPC contractors with 3,275 at site to start the initial works of the construction.
